Could RoJo be released?

With the signing of Leonard Fournette yesterday by the Bucs, many people are questioning which back is on the chopping block. I made it clear in my 53-man roster prediction that Raymond Calais would be cut, but since Fournette will be traveling a few hours south to join his new teammates in Tampa, who else could be next? There are whispers that it could indeed be LeSean McCoy, but after careful consideration, there is a valid argument that Ronald Jones II could be the one to be released.

Jones is still on his rookie deal while McCoy signed a vet minimum deal, but let's be realistic for a second. McCoy has been around the block for a while and Fournette is in his 4th year and both have established themselves as quality backs. Jones, who's entering his third year has had a bit of an up and down start in Tampa and is nothing of a receiving threat or game-changer like both Fournette and McCoy possess, and has also been known to struggle at times last season.

These next few days will definitely be worth watching. Although things like this seem to stay in pop warner football, it'll be interesting to see who's wearing the #27 once the final roster is announced by Sunday.
